SELFISHNESS STILL RULES KENYAN POLITICS

Peace still looks a bit elusive in Kenya despite our Kenyan brothers with other foreign counterparts descending on the Kenyan capital in their tens to try and break the deadlock, try to hammer out a deal for warring parties to compromise. The many diplomats however, have not had much lack convincing the likes of Raila and Kibaki to back down on their ever unchanging demands.
The stalemate has caused an enormous wound on the east African region which is bleeding profusely economically, it has affected tourism arrivals, hampered ferrying of commodities from Mombasa to Landlocked Neighbors and dealt the entire business community in Kenya an great lakes region such a monstrous blow.
We have not heard much of the proposals fronted by a many diplomats that have met both wrangling politicians lately except the more recent one by Museveni. He has tried throwing in place a power sharing deal, subject to having a judicial commission of inquiry help throw more light as to who masterminded the post election killings.
The Kibaki government has insisted and stuck to its guns of appointing that commission, thrashing any power sharing arrangements with “killers”, while the Raila side vows to vet whoever is appointed to that commission.
Iam not taking sides but it would help much to appoint a commission of inquiry from the members of the east African legislative assembly or some other credible body outside Kenya without prior contact with any of the two camps to have some surmountable credibility needed.
