Iam African and whenever something like detesting foreigners comes up, iam pondering on what the wave of thinking bedeviling our society could turn into in the near future.
The problem for not having enough effective coverage about such small countries or whole communities might be one ,two or even several reasons given the depth of knowledge of all peoples of that country and foreigners living besides them. The main stream media is always driven to trim themselves thin and as you can see we are having a phenomenal increase of citizen journalists who could be a reality in covering the gaps left by mainstream media. The stumbling block is that in the countries as biased on foreigners as Switzerland, no foreigners who could have given unbiased views about the systems of governance and what is actually happening on the ground are to be found. The Swiss are pre-occupied and hell-bent with the drive to eliminate the foreigners or pushing them on sidelines of their society, so their home grown news from indigenous Swiss is not news as foreigners think its prejudiced right from the sources and lacks credibility as per their attitude to foreigners and that implies any one reporting from abroad may have their views published without having to ascertain their authenticity from real Swiss sources.
The Swiss and other states with supremacist views need to revisit their stances on foreigners , its only real that the global expansion and of brands like UBS,ABB which are Swiss grown have only managed to be where they are by embracing world dynamism and being a world local brands. Its also necessary to throw some light that much of the repatriated profits by Swiss multinationals have made their country proud and given them a good name but only because they are diverse and versatile. Let the rest of the Swiss populations emulate the Swiss cooperate trends and that will uplift the status of the Swiss and how the other people see them. Offcourse that will be fodder for the main stream foreign media. Rebranding, rewashing Switzerland I don’t know what to call it.
