KENYA:FOR GOD’S SAKE KIBAKI DON’T FAIL THE PEACE PROCESS LIKE YOU DID WITH ELECTION

Iam one of those east Africans who is saddened by the bowing down of the much celebrated tough South African negotiator Cyril Ramaphosa from the Kenyan peace negotiation panel. His trails of successes in negotiation from the Northern Ireland peace debacle to the pre apartheid efforts to broker a peace deal in South Africa resonate incredibly.
It’s in the interest of the Kenyan incumbent Government to allow themselves room to escape from reality. One of Africa’s formidable negotiators wasn’t the loser but the Kenyan people, though Koffi annan is a heavy weight as a diplomatic negotiator, he also realized the services of Ramaphosa were indispensable and for that matter put him on board at the most crucial of times.
Its only to gentlemanly that in the ensuing dialogue to find lasting peace and help broker a long term peace deal, Ramaphosa should be brought on board without conditions. Citing the accusations of his trade links with ODM power brokers, it sounds much a cynical idea from someone fearing being squeezed in the corner allowing for submission on critical issues which have bogged the whole process down.
The whole constitution revision framework should as a matter of fact be overseen by such people of Ramaphosa‘s calibre who have not only the business touch, but whatever it takes to have a lasting solution hammered out. There is need for them especially in such long and stale political situations which where exacerbated by the colonial establishments and have been the sole fomenters of civil strife across many an African nation.
